Sisters' Island

When  you are  in  Singapore  you   should  pay  visit  to  its  beautiful islands  that  are situated  at a small  distance  from  the  main island  of  Singapore.  You can visit sentosa, Kusu island and a  number of  other  islands. These islands are famous for its natural beauty.  Millions of  tourists who  visit Singapore  every year  make  it  a  point  to visit these islands during  their trip  to the city-state.  If you  are planning  to  visit Singapore somewhere in the  near  future  then  you must  visit these  beautiful  islands.  While visiting these islands do not forget to include a trip to Sisters’ Island  in your itinerary.  The  islands are very  beautiful  and  at the same time the legend behind  the name  of  the  islands is  quite fascinating too.

According to the legend there lived two  sisters  long  time ago.  Their names were Minah  and  Lina. These sisters  shared  a very strong bond with  each  other and  it  was  impossible to separate them.  however,  one day a notorious  chief  of  Orang  Laut  met  Lina  and  instantly fell in  love with  her.  Then he forcefully took Lina away turning a deaf ear to the plea of the sister. He  took  Lina  to the  sampan and at that very  moment the  sky turned  dark  and  a heady  thunderstorm  broke out.  Seeing this Minah  the  sister  of  LIna  made  a final  attempt  to  save her sister  from leaving  the  jerry.  Just then  a large wave  came  and  engulfed  her.  Seeing this dreadful  sight Lina freed  herself from her captors  and threw  herself into the  sea  to  accompany her  dear  sister.   When the  storm  was  over  there was  no  trace  of the  two  sisters. However, two  small  islands  emerged in the  place  where these two sisters disappeared into the sea.

These  two  islands are known  as  Subar Laut and Subar  Darat. Following the  legend these two  islands are often termed  as  the  Sisters’ Island. It  is  believed that every  year the  day  when the sisters vanished into the  sea there will always  be  storm and  rain  in these  islands.
