Kusu Island

Kusu Island, is one of the popular tourist destination in Singapore. During your trip  to Singapore do  not  forget  to  visit  this  beautiful island that  is  situated  at a  short distance from the main island of Singapore.  The island has picturesque landscapes as well as other tourist attractions. If  you  want  to enjoy  a  complete  tour  of Singapore then  a visit  to this  beautiful  island  should find a  place  in  your  itinerary. If you  do  not  see this  beautiful  island during  yout  trip to  Singapore then you  are  definitely going  to  miss something.

In Chinese language Kusu Island refers to Tortoise Island.  This island is also known as Peak Island or Pulau Tembakul in Malay language. The island grew bigger from what was   earlier nothing but two tiny outcrops on a reef.  At present this beautiful island has transformed itself into an 8.5-hectare island holiday resort. People  who  love  to  have  some quiet time in th lap  of  nature  soaking  in the  luxuries  in  life during their  stay  in  Singapore  come to this  holiday  resort  to unwind.

According to the legends a magical tortoise transformed itself into an island to save the lives of some sailors who were shipwrecked. One of the sailors was Malay while the other was Chinese. Every year during the  ninth  lunar  month thousands  of devotees  visit this  island for Kusu  Pilgrimage  and  pray  for  good health, good luck,  happiness  peace as well as  prosperity.  Kusu Island is also home to a Chinese Temple Da Bo Gong. He is considered as the God of Prosperity.  

The temple is built in the year 1923 by a rich businessman, the temple houses 2 main deities - the Da Bo Gong and Guan Yin. The former is very much regarded as having the power to bestow prosperity, heal diseases, calm the sea and avert danger, while Guan Yin is known as the giver of sons. Both the gods are worshipped on a regular basis.
